ABOUT US

The Artlands Creative is a nonprofit organization, originally founded as The Coachella Valley Art Scene in 2008 to serve as a creative incubator and cultural facility for residents of the Coachella Valley. Its arts and culture programming was substantially focused on serving, enhancing and developing the capacity of artists to directly influence the creative industries within the Coachella Valley and neighboring cities. The CVAS became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 2014 and went on to create two physical art spaces, first a gallery in Cathedral City, CA and later an interactive art/music space called MAKE, at Westfield Palm Desert on the first floor of the mall. The CVAS partnered with Goldenvoice for more than 10 years to create the Art Studios and interactive experiences for music festivals such as Coachella, Desert Trip, FYF Fest in Los Angeles, and Arroyo Seco in Pasadena, CA. Throughout its existence, The CVAS has created public art projects, installations, and exhibitions in partnership with cities, businesses, and institutions such as the Palm Springs Art Museum, and Palm Springs International Film Festival among many others.

Meanwhile, The Artlands was founded in 2018 to champion emerging and marginalized artists from the Inland Empire region of Southern California at a time when many artists from the area were shut out by local institutions. The Artlands’ hands-on activity in the community has allowed it to provide opportunities to artists throughout its gallery space in downtown Redlands, CA, its off-site shows and events, its illustrated apparel and merchandise, and onto its publishing, marketing, creative services and public art projects.

In 2022, The Artlands, The Coachella Valley Art Scene (now called Artlands Coachella Valley), and Joshua Tree, CA’s La Matadora Gallery joined forces to create a cross-regional 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization now known as The Artlands Creative. Our organization has created opportunities & produced events from Southern California, to Austin, TX & beyond.
