Leah Stemmann's work explores the balance between chaos and order through drawing, string art, and mixed media. By blending organic forms with structured patterns, she creates compositions that reflect the tension between natural and man-made worlds. Central to her practice are themes of entropy, resilience, and the evolving significance of the objects that surround us. Materials like wood, nails, string, and found objects are used to build intricate, interconnected structures that invite reflection on the relationship between organic life and the artificial environments we construct.
Leah has exhibited work at the Sassee Museum of Art in Pomona, CA and La Matadora Gallery in Joshua Tree, CA, as well as participated in SecretLand Art Residency in Pasadena, CA. She has also curated and contributed to art shows on the West Coast, including the school where she teaches art to high schoolers.
Through her work and teaching, Leah invites a deeper engagement with the coexistence of chaos and order, challenging audiences to consider the evolving meaning of the environments we create for ourselves.
